.env Secure Encryption Tool

Encrypt and decrypt locally in your browser, then paste the result back into the chain-activity-worker `.env`.

Content stays in your browserThis page does not send API requests or transmit plaintext, ciphertext, or keys to BayPay. Use HTTPS and close the page on shared computers.

Set encryption key

Enter the fixed key from worker `src/secrets.mjs`, or generate a new key and replace the constant in the worker source. This public page does not save or retrieve the key automatically.

The same key is used for encryption and decryption. A lost key cannot recover the data. Do not put the key in `.env` or a public website.

Encrypt plaintext into an `.env` value

Paste a mnemonic, private key, or other setting to create an `enc:v1:` string for the right side of an `.env` entry.

Example: CHAIN_ACTIVITY_MNEMONIC, CHAIN_ACTIVITY_FAUCET_KEYS
Decrypt / 02

Decrypt an existing `.env` value

Paste `enc:v1:` ciphertext or a complete `KEY=enc:v1:...` entry to verify the key and content.

Compatible with chain-activity-worker: AES-256-GCM and scrypt (N=16384, r=8, p=1). A new salt and nonce are generated for every encryption, so identical plaintext does not produce identical ciphertext.
